DJ FlashI’m getting more and more useless while writing these, it’s getting a bit worrying. It’s been a little under 3 weeks since I last wrote and it’s getting harder and harder trying to remember what’s happened in between then. Oh, I remember. A couple of days after my previous post was the show week. Even before then it was Kid Kenobi! Originally I wasn’t going to be heading out early as I had to work until around midnight, but apparently because it was a public holiday on the friday, it meant that the cleaners weren’t going to be there so I didn’t have to stay as late. Brilliant, I had my camera and a spare change of clothes in my car hoping that I would avoid havingt to come home but just swing past and grab Daryl. Well, nothing went to plan. When I got to Daryl’s place, I had forgotten my fuckin’ shoes, and no way in hell was I going to be going out with my torn, tatty shoes (which, now, have decided to distance themselves from the soul of my shoe.) Eventually after driving past and grabbing my shoes, we get into Disco around 11 (just in time before our free tickets ran out.) Normally a thursday is either incredibly empty, or the majority of the people there are incredibly sleazy. There were way too many people there for a thursday, I suppose it didn’t help too much that the friday was a public holiday and people were out just for the fact that they didn’t have to work the following day. Like I said, we got there and we knew no one there. Couldn’t see anyone we knew and we kind of puttered around upstairs for the most of the night. Eventually we ended up seeing Jodie and chatted to her for a bit. It was a pretty good night considering there were way too many people out for something like that. I dunno, it’s weird. Most of the time when there is someone big up, absolutely no one goes (unless it’s a saturday night) and the people that do go actually know who the DJ is playing. Well, that thursday were people that wanted to go out and get drunk and expect Discovery type music (the same shitty, cheesy songs that were played months and months ago.) I had nothing against it, I thought it was a really good night. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves though.

Work on the saturday following that was incredibly boring, as usual. It was the show night that night. I dunno, I can’t remember the last time I went. It might have been last year, I’m not sure. But Mum and I went and wandered around for a few hours looking at random shit. It was was weird, there were heaps and heaps of little people running around with their parents money and just making general assholes of themselves. I can remember when that was me though, although I don’t remember being a little asshole. Who knows. I’m afraid to say that my sister has more balls than me though. I think she was going on more rides than I’ve ever been on my entire life. I reckon I’ve only every been on maybe a total of 4 rides my entire life. I dunno, I’ve never been a real fan of rides. I’d much rather sit back and watch people scream and beg to be let off some kind of ride, and not two seconds after they get off it, they are back in line to ride it again. I dunno, I see it as rather pointless and a waste of money, but I suppose, to each their own. I don’t think we were there for very long though. We might have gotten there around 6 and wandered around for a few hours until they had the fireworks on. I don’t see how people can go there every year and do the same shit though, it seriously hasn’t changed for so long. Really, the only thing that had changed was the price of things. But oh well.

I think it might have been after the show, but I think I ended up heading over to Daryl’s place and he mentioned that Hayley and that were down at Cas beach having a bon-fire. We made our way down there and Hayley, Bridget, Sian, Michael, Martin and Kirsty were sitting around having bon-fire chats and we joined in. I wish I had brought some drinks with me though, because drinking down at the beach at night while it is cold is awesome. It doesn’t matter how much sand gets in anywhere, drinking on the beach next to a fire is always funs. It didn’t help matters when Chris turned up and brought his fireworks along. From what I had heard, was that on cracker night they had these huge mortars and were letting them off. This thing was huge. It looked like it was a 600mL bottle wrapped up in some paper. When we eventually let the bastard off, it was fuckin’ huge. I wish I had brought my camera long with me, but I didn’t. Eventually I had decided (Daryl too) that it was time to fuck off and get some sleep around 2:30am, and I don’t think it was too long after that we left that everyone else decided that aswell.

Since then, I’ve been leading an incredibly boring life. I’m kind of worried about the length and the actual flow of this post, but I’m not sure what I can do to fix that. Nothing exciting has happened to me lately, or to anyone else I know. It’s kind of weird. For the next few weeks though I’ll be working during the days though. I decided that I’d had enough of working at night, and that I needed to start to make a little more money. That, and maybe because my uni time-table starts at like 4pm and finishes around 8. It’s a pain in the ass really, but I suppose it isn’t too bad. I mean, I’m doing a whole lot more hours during the day, so that’ll push me quicker to my goal. Speaking of my goal, I’ve got 4 weeks until I’m able to buy my new camera gear. Yay! I’m hoping for september 11th, and give it a month to get to me, and it should be here just in time for Paul Van Dyk, and Silverchair/Powderfinger. Yes, Paul Van Dyk. I was browsing the internet the other night and I happened to stumble across some website about Australian DJ concerts and stuff like that and I noticed that Paul Van Dyk was coming to Australia to promote his new album. Normally, whenever they do something like this it’s Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth, completely bypassing Darwin. Well. He’s coming to Darwin first. On the 10th of October, Paul Van Dyk is going to be in Darwin. Fuck yeah! If you don’t know who he is, find out. Someone this big coming into Darwin is incredible. I’m actually quite shocked that he is coming to Darwin and bypassing a lot of other cities. But who cares. Paul Van Dyk! And a couple of days before that on the 5th of October it’s Silverchair and Powderfinger. Although, I’m not looking forward to that as much as Paul Van Dyk though, but they should be good either way. Major headlining acts coming to Darwin. Who would know.

I’m actually really excited about a whole bunch of shit. It’s weird, I’ve never really been excited about anything. Normally it’s slight anticipation and excitement, but I’m really excited this time. I’ve saved up a whole shitload and in 4 weeks time I’m going to have the gear I want. Hopefully I’ll continue to take more photos and have way more fun. My other problem is that I think I’ve wasted most of Darwin already. I mean, I want to go back to when I was wandering around aimlessly. I think I’ll do that more when I get my new camera. What I do need to do is go on a holiday. A fuckin’ holiday (most probably by myself so I don’t have to worry about satisfying anyone else’s needs) would be brilliant right now. Well, not so much right now, but after I get my camera gear and before I start back at uni. I reckon I’d have way too much fun wandering around aimlessly in Sydney or Brisbane taking photos. I could probably spend days doing it and not get bored or tired of it. It’s just something I’m going to have to save up more for. Something to do I suppose.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to stick up some kind of photoblog on Glass Ambience and hopefully when I go out and take photos of more stuff you won’t have to wait until I throw up a link on here. I suppose it’s just another way of showing off images I’ve taken. Just another thing I wanted to do I suppose. There’s only a few more things that I want to do though. I was looking around at getting business cards printed off and stuff like that, I just have to make up a design and find out who does them. As usual, I’ll link people to my flickr page and my latest Discovery set. Oh, one quick thing to add. The other week I was out and puttering around with Jodie and some guy had come up and said that there were a whole bunch of pictures of her on some website and gave her his card and wandered off (well, something along those lines, it sounds about right). Anyway, I checked out this site and it’s got a small stack of photos from Discovery. Ok I thought, fair enough I’ve got my set and everyone else has theirs. Next concert thing I went to, same deal this same bloke is getting pictures. God damnit. I feel kind of ripped off now. I mean they’ve never really done it before and it wasn’t until I was out on that Sessions night that they started to get photos. Call me bitter, but I feel kind of ripped off. Fair enough if they want to get photos and stuff, but at least get some good photos.
