Languid

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I can’t believe it’s april already. Every year people say that the year keeps going quicker, and it’s not any slower this year. It sucks. I mean, my last post was mid march, it’s now april. I think the only reason why I haven’t written anything lately is because I haven’t done enough to warrant another post. That and people haven’t really been giving me any kind of ideas to write about, so that’s no help either. I’ll see if I can’t recap what I’ve done the past few weeks. It sucks, because I managed to write a complete post earlier today, and when I booted up my mac it’s decided it was going to restart. So I lost a giant post and now I have to remember what I wrote. God damnit.

Nothing much interesting has been happening at work, it’s generally after work that things happen. Like the other week, we had our usual corroboree out the front of kmart, but invited Aihi along as Tom was down in Alice for a holiday. Normally we get the random stranger wandering up asking for a smoke or something retarded like that. Instead, we got two lots of three coons wandering up and trying to chat with us. The first bunch were only kids, and they were drunk. Not slightly intoxicated, but drunk. Initially they were wandering down towards the taxi rank and were throwing the payphones around, just making a noise down there. Eventually one of them started to wander up towards where we were sitting. Meanwhile, I’m sitting on the ground like a proper gin, and Johnny had his bike lying on the ground next to me. What was weird about this kid though, was that he was kind of walking around us, but at us at the same time. I was kind of worried about him taking off with Johnny’s bike. He managed to wander up behind us, but we all made it obvious we knew he was there. He come up and ask us where the best place to piss was. I let him know that the best place was on the otherside of the carpark next to the cheesecake shop and he wandered down there. He come back about 5 minutes later and just exclaimed (with his earphones in) “I’m listening to Lagumary Bob Marley! Lagumary! Bob Marley!” He was kind of stuck in a loop until Troy-bags let him know how cool Lagumary Bob Marley was. It must have been that quick conversation that convinced Lagumary’s mate to come over. All three of them wandered over and started having a conversation with some of us, Troy-bags being the instigator of it all. They were doing it typical boong-style drinking too, one of them was wandering around with a water bottle full of some kind of alcohol or petrol (or both) and the others were stumbling around. They were looking for a taxi to go somewhere, or some shit to get home. When a taxi did roll up (in the car park further down), they all started to run (it was more like stumble-running) after this taxi. No sooner did this taxi notice them running towards him, did he peel out and leave them standing there yelling abuses. Somewhere along the line one of them asked Aihi where he was from and not two seconds later this guy was almost running from Aihi (he’s from PNG.) Aihi told us when they left, that apparently this was the same kid (Darwin being too small) that had gotten into a bit of trouble the some PNG group, and he was still scared of them. We were having a laugh about it until the next group come up.

It was almost like speed dating, no sooner had these kids left, another three come up, except they wasted no time in pretending to go to the taxi rank and call for a taxi. They wandered straight up to us. One of them looked like had been sniffing some kind of petrol or other drug, because he wasn’t wearing a shirt, and he walked straight up to where Johnny was sitting and was looking over him. Not looking next to him, not looking at him. But over him. It was weird. No sooner was he standing in front of Johnny, he off wandering halfway across the car park and not looking back. Another one was dressed semi nicely, but that meant he was only wearing a long sleeve shirt and jeans, but still looked as fucked as the first guy. He didn’t say too much, it was the last guy that was saying anything. At one point, he was talking about them having to walk from tiwi to nightcliff, and I don’t know what possessed me to reply to him, but I did.

Me: “Tiwi? I have a mate that lives in tiwi.”
Smelly Boong: “YEAH! WE JUST WALK FROM TIWI!”
Me: “Yeah, he lives in tiwi.”
SB: “Yeah! WE WALK FROM TIWI TO NIGHTCLIFF!”
Me: “From tiwi?”
SB: “Yeah!”

It was seriously a conversation out of nothing, I probably could have kept him going, but he got sidetracked. Eventually, we had decided that was enough smelly boong that we could all handle, and we proceeded to do our regular grab rubbish and throw the shit away. I don’t know how the topic was started, but he was asking us how where we getting home and I think Troy replied that we were legging it home.

SB: “YOU WALKING HOME! WE WALKIN’ ASWELL LOOK!”
Troy: “Yeah.”
SB: “YOU WALKIN’ BUT HE,” (points to Johnny) “HE RIDING! HE GOT A BIKE!”
John: “Ha..”
SB: “YOU RIDING SEE! YOU BLOKES! YOU WALKIN’! HAAAAAaaa”

Right about now I was getting worried. I knew where this conversation was going to lead the moment they take notice to my car. Sitting by itself. Fuck. While Troy and Aihi had SB preoccupied, Johnny and I took it as our cue and started to walk off. I look around just as I got to my car and notice that SB was hugging Troy. Hugging. Suffer! But no sooner had I got in my car and started it up did they finally take notice to me. FUCK! It was just as I was winding down my window that they started to stagger towards me.

SB: “HEY! YOU GIVE US LIFT TO NIGHTCLIFF!”
Me: (I’m starting to back out at this point) “Nah, nothing. I’m not going that direction”
SB: (Only a few meters away from my car now) “Oh. You. YOU GIVE US A LIFT TO NIGHTCLIFF!”
Me: “Nope! AISU!”

I think I’m completely missing out a week here, but I can’t seem to remember it. Anyway, thursday (this would probably be the 22nd now I think) was when Fonzerelli was up here. Daryl had me kind of convinced to head out after work. Daryl ended up piking on me and I headed out anyway to listen to some good house. I did go out and saw Jess and Terry out. After sticking around with them for a bit I caught up with Boyd and that probably woudl have been the extent of people that were out. I didn’t recognise anyone else out even though it was a busy night (for a thursday at least.) Eventually I gave up and headed home around 2am just after Fonzerelli’s set feeling content. The rest of the week and weekend was rather uneventful, from my lack or memory at least. And nothing really entertaining happened until the following friday.

After Tom returned, he decided that he was going to be leaving for another job in the government, so it was going to be planned we head out friday night for both Kelly’s birthday and Budj’s going away. Now, I’m not lying when I say I didn’t mean to go out and get absolutely shitfaced, but it happened. Accidently. Honest. But I digress. Apparently everyone was meant to meet at around 8 at the Deckbar, so Budj, Troy and I head out and find that there were only a couple of people there. Budj and I sat out with a couple of his mates and it was probably around 10 that people started to turn up. By then, we had some alcohol dipped in us and having a laugh. At one point, I was almost being molested by Tim (not bitch lips Tim, but a manager that no one likes) where he was almost humping my leg trying to talk to someone next to me. Fuck sake. I ended up getting up and just walking to the toilet to get out of that predicament. I’m not too sure what time it was, but we ended up heading down to Losties. On the way down there though, Tom and I detoured into Wisdom for jagerbombs. After waiting at least half an hour before being served, we finished off and continued down the street. Wooo, it’s raining! Damnit. We slowly made our way down and noticed a giant huge cluster of fireies and ambulances parked down the one way street. It didn’t hit us at first, but apparently some guy had fallen from the roof of his building and impailed himself on a fence. And then proceeded to call 000. Brilliant beans. Anyway, we continued on and spent the rest of the night in Losties. I slowly kept drinking, and at one point Timmy and I headed into Disco for free. Well, we just did the sneaky way of walking with a mission and pretended like we had our arms stamped (we did have from Losties, but still) and turned around after not knowing anyone in their either. I favoured the 80s music anyway. By around 2am, I had decided I needed to get home to get some sleep before I got up for work the following morning. However, Budj wasn’t having anything to do with that. Instead he convinced me to stay. And. JAGERBOMB! God damnit.

You know how whenever you are out on a quiet night and you see those few guys on the dance floor either jumping around, or just making fools of themselves? Yeah? Well, that was us. And it felt fan-fuckin’-tastic. We were having so much fun. After a while, Doctor Elephant come on and we spent the rest of the night making the dancefloor a semi-mosh pit. It was so much fun. I cannot remember the last time I had that much fun. After getting home around 5:30 and sleeping for about an hour or so, I was up and ready for a day at work. Yay. Apart from having the typical red-bull stomach churns, it was an uneventful day. No sooner had I got home from work, we were out to dinner for a friend’s leaving.. dinner (I suppose you could call it that) at Ten Litchfield. The other occasion on the menu? Boyd’s 21st. Woo! Back to the deckbar again! I dunno, I was kind of worried about heading there because I knew I wouldn’t know anyone (other than by name) and I wasn’t wrong. But I still had a good time, chatting with Chris and Boyd and eventually Daniel when he rocked up around 11. I did see Fat Jack and Hayden though. I had been waiting for it all day, and all night, and it slowly crept up to me around midnight, maybe a little after. I suddenly became dead fuckin’ tired. Damnit. I knew I wasn’t going any further than the Deckbar, but I was lucky it hit me when it did. I went home and proceeded to pass out for a while. Woo for sleep deprivation. Sunday is normally my inactive day. Sometimes I’ll go outside and help mum clean up around the yard or something, but I did nothing of the sort. Although, I was doing an assignment, I didn’t leave my room until around 3:30pm to get some lunch (I got up around 9) and only after I had finished my assignment. I felt good though. Almost. Tired, but good. I did end up watching 300 though. It was an awesome movie, seriously. Only went for a little under two hours, but it was really well done. Lots of blood.

That has led me to where I am now. It’s just before work and I’ve rewritten this post as close as I could remember it. I don’t think I’ve missed out on anything I’ve done or shit like that. Oh, I should mention that on friday I went over to dripstone and spent all day there, piss-farting around on the internet, chatting with Herrod. It’s interesting not seeing anyone for a long time. I haven’t spoken to anyone I was hanging out with a few months ago for a while now. What is a weird feeling though, is that there are random people out there that are reading my site again (like one of my teachers) so I feel compelled to write more things. In that, I still ideas. Anything. Seriously. Any topic, any idea and I’ll probably write about it. So either email me or write a comment.
